Pink Loerie wishes Knysna’s oysters good luck

The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival and the Pink Loerie Foundation have expressed their support for the 2021 Knysna Oyster Festival. “While the Knysna Oyster Festival is taking place as a ‘Limited Edition’ festival this year due to the current lockdown regulations, we wish the organisers the best of luck,” said Johann van Niekerk, Chairperson of the Pink Loerie Foundation.

Two of the Garden Route’s iconic events, the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival and the Knysna Oyster Festival, bring much needed economic stimulation to the greater Knysna municipal area every year. “Knysna is the home-base of the Pink Loerie,” said van Niekerk. “We have a deep love for the greater Knysna area and its people. Tourism is a big part of the local economy and we applaud the organisers of the Knysna Oyster Festival for their efforts in bringing some cheer – and paying visitors – to the area.”

The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival has a long history of supporting the local tourism industry within the greater Knysna area, as well as making generous contributions to local charitable organisations. “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a marked effect on how events and festivals are run,” said van Niekerk. “We are, however, looking forward to bringing the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival back to Knysna in 2022. For now, enjoy everything Knysna has to offer during the Knysna Oyster Festival – there is so much fun to be had, and oysters to be eaten.”

The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival 2022 will take place from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May 2022.
